Welcome to ecodads!
As a Co-Founder of ECODADS.ORG, I agree and fully support and would like to help Obama’s Fatherhood Initiative to succeed. We are just launching the alpha version of our website this Father’s Day at http://www.ecodads.org and starting to building out Membership, Chapter Presidents and social media pages like our ecodads’ Facebook Page. Our mission is to be an active network of dads who serve as positive role models for our children to build a flourishing future. We plan on doing this by building community programs that support sustainable economic, social and environmental development. We’re not experts at sustainability, nor specialists, but a network of average dads, who do normal activities, but are concerned about the future for our children and the environment. For such, we want to create a national network where dads can find each other in their postal zones, in their neighborhoods, to get together and collectively work on projects, workshops and initiatives via bbqs, events, webinars and conference calls in an organized way that works for dads often busy schedules. We want to create measurable impact.
We have 5 primary initiatives that start with YOUTH SPORTS (where we’ll provide greening your team best practices and show best ways to reducing plastic bottle usage so that we can ultimately get every plastic water bottle off of every playing field in America, and hopefully melt down junk yard cars and refrigerators and re-smelt them into steel drinking canteens made in US steel plants to create US jobs), to BUILDING COMMUNITY GARDENS to feed neighborhoods, to RETROFITTING HOMES to make them more energy efficient, to providing some clear guidance on what PRODUCTS TO BUY and WHERE TO INVEST your money to benefit your family, community and the environment.
